On June 24, 2026, TWO earthquakes struck Venezuela, compounding an already devastating political and economic crisis. The impact has been catastrophic, leaving thousands of displaced families homeless and countless animals completely defenseless.Without immediate action, many of these animals will not survive. The lack of accessible food and basic veterinary medicine has created an alarming, life-threatening emergency across the hardest-hit regions.Our network of professionals is actively working on the ground, but the need is far greater than the current supply.

Who we are

Paw Hero began in January 2026 as a targeted initiative founded by Betania Canas to support a single animal shelter in Venezuela. However, the scope of our mission shifted overnight following the devastating two earthquakes that struck north-central Venezuela in June 2026, rapidly evolved into a vital crisis response network.To maximize our impact, Paw Hero partnered with Animales Sin Voz, an established organization based in Mérida, Venezuela. Together, we mobilized to distribute life-saving cat and dog food to hundreds of displaced and injured animals in the hardest-hit earthquake zones, including La Guaira, Puerto Cabello, Tucacas, and Morón. This alliance paved the way for further essential collaboration with renowned national organization BriVet; a dedicated group of Venezuela’s most recognized and experienced veterinarians working directly at Ground Zero, treating animals rescued from the collapsed buildings.

Animales Sin Voz is an organization based in Mérida, Venezuela. They are devoted to the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and relocation of strays, stepping in during veterinary emergencies for community animals, and hosting educational sessions to foster a more conscious and humane treatment of the region's furry, voiceless population.
They have also provided critical relief to hundreds of animals impacted by devastating earthquakes, delivering food to rescuers, shelters, and volunteers in La Guaira, Caracas, and Carabobo.
